    READ!!!

    Read something every day.  Discipline yourself to a regular schedule of reading.  In fifteen minutes a day you can read twenty books a year.

    SQRRR (SQ3R) = A Way to Study

    Avoid that last minute panic!

     

    1.   S = Survey -"look over"

    · Title

    · Headings

    · Introduction

    · Pictures and captions

    · Boldface words

     

    2.   Q = Question - Change the headings into questions.

     

    3.   R = Read - Read to answer the questions.

     

    4.   R = Recite - "to repeat from memory" Tell yourself the answers to the questions (or write them down - take notes).  Recite the answers to your parents.  Practice writing the answers.  Recite your written answers.

     

    5.   R = Review - "to go back over" Study the information before the test. 

     

     

    Getting The Answer Right

     

    ü   Watch for a change in directions.  They may change within the same section of a test.

    ü   If you can, choose the questions you know first.  Leave the hard ones for later.

    ü   Read all the choices-even after you find the right choice.

    ü   Read each choice as if it were a true or false statement.  Select the choice that is true.

    ü   Use common sense.  Ignore obviously wrong choices.  Look at the "good" choices carefully to pick the "best" one.

    ü   Take your time.  Plan how to use given time.  Carefully think about similar choices.

    ü   Be careful of statements that use words like always, never, and sometimes.
