Avoid that last minute panic!
1. S = Survey -"look over"
· Title
· Headings
· Introduction
· Pictures and captions
· Boldface words
2. Q = Question - Change the headings into questions.
3. R = Read - Read to answer the questions.
4. R = Recite - "to repeat from memory" Tell yourself the answers to the questions (or write them down - take notes). Recite the answers to your parents. Practice writing the answers. Recite your written answers.
5. R = Review - "to go back over" Study the information before the test.
Getting The Answer Right
ü Watch for a change in directions. They may change within the same section of a test.
ü If you can, choose the questions you know first. Leave the hard ones for later.
ü Read all the choices-even after you find the right choice.
ü Read each choice as if it were a true or false statement. Select the choice that is true.
ü Use common sense. Ignore obviously wrong choices. Look at the "good" choices carefully to pick the "best" one.
ü Take your time. Plan how to use given time. Carefully think about similar choices.
ü Be careful of statements that use words like always, never, and sometimes.
