• A little bit about Dr. DiSalvio....

    Here stands a musician who plays with such incredible energy, precision, groove…This is what making music is supposed to be about. This kind of performance adds exactly that what a composer cannot write in his score: Duende!

    -Jacob Ter Veldhuis, composer

    Dr. DiSalvio is a professional performer and music educator. He has performed extensively around the country with musicians such as Johnny Mathis, Denis DiBlasio, Wayne Bergeron, George Rabbai, and many more. He has also performed with groups including the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, The Batn Rouge Jazz Ensemble, The Jimmy Maxwell Orchestra, as well as many commercial groups such as New World Funk, Beaucoup Boogie, Questionable at Best, Cold Grits, and many more.

    Dr. DiSalvio recieved his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with a specialization in Jazz Studies from Rowan University. He taught music for 2 years at Westampton Middle School before receiving his Master's Degree in Saxophone Performance from Illinois State University. He is a recent graduate of Louisiana State University, where he recieved the degree Doctor of Musical Arts. He has taught at both Illinois State University and Louisiana State University in the fields of saxophone pedagogy, performance, and new teacher instruction.

    Dr. DiSalvio returned to WMS during the 2016/2017 school year, and is happy to be working with the students of WMS!
