Differentiated Instruction
Looking at Lessons from a Different Perspective
- What do my students need to know or begin to know?
- How do I know that learning has occurred?
- What instructional strategies can use with my students?
- How do I meet the needs of all the learners?
- How can I make the learning relevant for the students?
-
Elements to be Differentiated
- Addresses the same concepts of instruction but is adjusted by degree of complexity for different learners.
- Objectives are written in incremental steps. This allows for different entry points
- Flexible grouping is consistently used this includes small group pairing and whole groups
- Grouping is not fixed but is dynamic based on content, project and on going evaluations.
Products
- Each student task will be interesting and engaging.
- Each child will be challenged most of the time.
- A well designed student product allows for varied expression, alternative procedures, and provides varying degrees of difficulty, types of evaluation and scoring.
